Connecting to Cox In-Home Wifi hotspots
Help your guests get online in minutes
If your guest has a Cox Internet account, they can connect to your in-home hotspot by selecting the wifi network “CoxWifi” and signing in with their Cox User ID and Password. Once signed in, they’ll automatically connect to your guest network whenever their device is in range unless they choose to forget the network.
How do Cox In-Home Wifi Hotspots work?
Your Panoramic Wifi Gateway creates an extension of the Cox Hotspots network by broadcasting an additional SSID—"CoxWifi”. This hotspot uses a data stream that’s separate from your home network.

Cox In-Home Wifi Hotspots FAQs
What network should I use while at home – my private wifi network or the Cox In-Home Wifi Hotspot?
You should use your private wifi network while you are at home for the best wifi experience.
Does my Cox In-Home Wifi Hotspot affect the security of my home network?
Your hotspot is designed to work on a separate wifi network, so it does not affect your home network. By enabling guests to use “CoxWifi,” you increase your network security because you won’t need to provide your private home wifi network password to guests.
Will my address be shown on the hotspot location map or the Cox Wifi app?
No, we do not list residential customers’ addresses on the hotspot location map or in the Cox Wifi app.
Why don’t I see “CoxWifi” in my home?
Cox In-Home Wifi Hotspots are supported on our Panoramic Wifi gateways only. If you have an older Cox provided gateway, please contact our customer care team for an upgrade. Wireless routers that were purchased at a retail store will not support Cox In-Home Wifi Hotspots.
My wifi-enabled devices are connecting to “CoxWifi” when I am home – how do I make my private home network my default network?
Go into your device’s wifi settings to make sure you are connected to your private home network. You may need to select it manually if your device has connected to “CoxWifi” in your own home. If your device continues to connect to “CoxWifi,” you can always choose to “forget the network” from your wifi devices wifi settings menu.
Is there a limit to the number of devices that can connect to “CoxWifi” at one time?
Yes, we limit simultaneous access to a max of 5 devices for a better wifi experience.
My guests are unable to connect to “CoxWifi”. Is there an issue?
With your wifi-enabled device, verify that the “CoxWifi” signal is available and the device is connected. Open a Web browser and you should be directed to the Cox In-Home Wifi Hotspots sign-in page. Also double-check that your guest is a qualified Cox Internet customer. If the issue persists, please call customer support at 1-888-675-1787.
When can I expect my services to be restored?
During a natural disaster, it can be difficult to determine how long it’ll take to restore services. This is because of various factors including power restoration, storm debris in the way and current weather conditions. We’ll provide updates here on Cox.com as they’re available.
If you sign up for text messages, you’ll also receive an update when we’ve cleared any outages in your area. Signing up for text alerts and using the Cox app is the easiest way to receive updates on when your services are restored.
